“We may not know what the future holds, but we know who holds the future.”
R. Abernathy
Your businesses and households look different as a result of the coronavirus crisis. We continue lifting you and your families in prayer as you navigate the challenges and opportunities before you.
Program ministries at Open Door look different as well during C19. We covet your prayers to remain in good health to be on the front lines of this ministry. We need your support more now than ever before.
The ministries of Open Door that you care about are continuing in response to our community changes and needs. We are on the curbsides of our community for Mathews Promise Academy students. Wellness checks. Afternoon sack meals. Activity sheets. Books. Prayers. Phone calls for homework assistance. Face to face encouragements of “we miss you” and “we are still here for you”. These messages are vital to the children.
Commodity deliveries to and running errands for isolated senior adults (Golden Agers) who have little to no family. Circles in Columbus meetings over the phone and, where necessary, porch deliveries of program materials and food boxes for those enrolled in FANN, the food co-op. And the women in Virginia D. Jackson Home for Women in transition continuing to live here, remains staffed 24/7. The women along with us are cleaning and sanitizing more than ever to avoid having to use a designated quarantine area, which is prepared if needed.
The Showering Program for the Homeless is open allowing a maximum of 10 people, staff included, in the facility at a time. And we are continuing to pay rent for women and children we’ve placed in housing and providing case management by phone.
Yes, we are washing our hands, while following Jesus’ example of “washing feet”.
Thank you for your frontline support for us to be on the frontlines of service. We can receive your gifts online at www.odch.org or by mail at 2405 Second Avenue, Columbus, Ga 31901.
