Thank you, Dr. Charlene Black! She selected the ministries of Open Door to be the recipient of the proceeds from her book sales celebrating the ministry of United Methodist Women. Her generous gift will provide the Elizabeth Learning Lab for children and youth served in our Mathews Promise Academy as well as Bibles for distribution by our chaplain. We thank Dr. Black and all who purchased one of her books. The check presentation was made during the South Georgia Annual Conference of the UMC.

Open Door Names Billie Dodson Volunteer of the Year!
Congratulations to Billie Dodson our 2017 Open Door Community House Volunteer of the Year! She has volunteered with Circles in Columbus since the very beginning helping with the meals, planning and decorating for special events, etc. We are so grateful for her faithful service all these years!
Ribbon Cutting Ceremony
Leadership Columbus hit all the right notes when they volunteered to transform our “ceramics room” into a beautiful music room for our Youth in Unison students of the Mathews Promise Academy. This functional and professional space brings us one step closer toward realizing our dream of one day having a children’s orchestra. We invited the community and had a delightful ribbon cutting ceremony. Many thanks to Leadership Columbus for making this happen for us and to volunteer music program director Tracy Leopard for her work every week with our children!
