Dear friends of Open Door Community House,
The leadership of Open Door Community House is aware that anxiety may exist related to the COVID-19 (coronavirus) that is active in our country. While we can’t predict what will happen or when, we know there are things we all can do to be as safe and prepared as possible to meet any challenges that may come our way. We at Open Door care about the safety of our program ministry participants, volunteers, guests and staff and have a plan in place to protect and care for each of you.
Here are some things we are doing and will continue to do:
- We can pray! One of my favorite verses to pray when I feel concerned about something is Philippians 4:6-7: “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.”
- We can practice practical and preventive measures such as washing your hands, covering coughs and sneezes, and staying home if not feeling well.
- This is a great time to practice caring for your neighbor as well as ourselves.
This is a rapidly evolving situation. We will stay aware of any changes made by federal, state or local authorities as we move forward. If it becomes appropriate and prudent for us make changes to our current ministries (meetings canceled, etc.), we will post that as soon as that is known.
We are grateful for you and are committed to doing our part to keep our community safe.
We remain prayerful for all of those across our country and the world who have been impacted. We know that God is still in control even when things seem out of our control.
Peace,
Kim Jenkins
