Women typically come to need the transitional housing program through loss of employment, untreated substance abuse, mental health issues, divorce, abandonment, and domestic violence. The goal for each woman is to move into and sustain permanent housing and to become self-sufficient.

Referrals come by way of 211, the Essential Services program through United Way. If you know someone in need of this program, have them call 211 or click here to go to that website or email Andrea@ODCH.org.

VIRGINIA D. JACKSON HOME FOR WOMEN

Operating since 1986, this is the oldest transitional housing program for homeless unaccompanied women who are ages 18 years old and up in the area. This program is offered at no charge to unaccompanied women for up to twelve (12) months. The women are required to be working, looking for work, attending school, or participating in a day treatment program. Individual and group counseling are provided for each resident by The Pastoral Institute. Life skills, bible study, and additional training opportunities are routinely offered.
